CUCF Release and Transfer Routes
Central Utah Correctional Facility is one of Utah’s two state prison campuses. UDC operates the Gunnison facility for sentenced adults. The county of conviction does not control the public prison search. An Iron County case at CUCF remains a state corrections case, with release authority and status found in UDC and Board records.
A CUCF prisoner may be moved to Utah State Correctional Facility for release processing, paroled to an approved community address, transferred to a community correctional center, reach sentence expiration, or remain in state custody after an institutional move. UDC says most state releases are processed at USCF. Therefore, a CUCF location change on its own is not proof of community release.

Search CUCF Release Records
Use the Utah Department of Corrections Offender Search. The UDC offender number is the strongest search key. Name searches require first- and last-name input and may return people with similar names, so compare the date of birth and offender number before reading a result.

- Open the matching result only after comparing identifiers.
- Read Location and Housing Facility to see whether the person remains at CUCF or another state placement.
- Copy the exact Release Date/Type value, including the type or N/A.
- Check BOPP decisions for the controlling order and verify actual status after any future date.
The live detail page lists Offender #, Location, Housing Facility, Release Date/Type, Case Manager, and Case Manager Email. A prison name means confinement continues. PAROLE with no housing facility supports release from prison to community supervision. PROBATION means adult probation supervision and does not necessarily show a past prison release.
CUCF Board Release Decisions
The Utah Board of Pardons and Parole determines parole and sentence termination for UDC prisoners within state law. A court sentence sets the legal framework, but a tentative hearing or review date is not an exit date. The Board may set parole, require more programming, schedule later review, rescind a date, or take another authorized action.
Search the BOPP portal by offender number when possible. First and last name or a date range can also locate hearings and published decisions. Read all later entries. A rescission hearing, paper review, parole violation decision, or redetermination may change an earlier outcome.

Utah does not have a verified general rule requiring every state prisoner to serve 85 percent. The actual path depends on the sentence, offense-specific law, Board authority, conduct, approved programming, earned-time decisions, and the release plan. Preserve the exact wording of the individual order.
CUCF Release Day Logistics
UDC’s Release Day page says releases and paroles are processed on Tuesdays, with most taking place at USCF. Support persons for people released from CUCF are told to arrive at USCF at 9 a.m. Processing can take one to four hours.
If UDC assigns the person to a community correctional center, the department transports the person. A person without a ride may be taken to nearby UTA TRAX and released after those with arranged transportation. These are statewide prison procedures and may change. Support persons should check the official page before traveling to Salt Lake City.
The published arrival time is not a guaranteed exit time. Final paperwork, identity checks, conditions, property, transport, and unresolved legal matters can affect completion. Confirm that the release remains scheduled and that USCF is the correct pickup site.
CUCF Releases to Iron County
A person convicted in Iron County may serve at CUCF and later parole to an approved address in southern Utah. If the approved supervision assignment is in Iron County, Adult Probation and Parole Region 5’s Cedar City office can become relevant after release. That assignment must be confirmed from the current case information. A former Iron County residence does not prove present supervision in Cedar City.
Read UDC Location before contacting the field office. A PAROLE location and case-manager fields provide the public signal that prison confinement ended and supervision began. The Board order supplies the conditions and decision. If the person is still shown at CUCF, USCF, or another housing facility, community parole has not been confirmed.
There is no UDC community correctional center in Iron County identified in the research. A person placed at a CCC may therefore be in another part of Utah even if the court case began in Iron County. Do not convert the county of conviction into a claimed destination.
Request CUCF Discharge Records
UDC’s public-information categories include legal status, offender number, housing, offenses and sentence length, Board hearing date, Parole/Expiration Date, sentencing court and case number, and a prison photograph, subject to restrictions. Some of those fields do not appear in the narrow live detail view.
For a missing former profile or full discharge question, submit a request through the UDC GRAMA portal. Identify the person and request existing historical legal-status data, the release or expiration entry, the Board order, sentencing identifiers, and the discharge or termination record if maintained. UDC does not have to create a custom answer. Security and privacy limits may require redaction.
No verified blanket external-request fee was posted in the reviewed sources. Ask for an estimate, electronic delivery, and any applicable fee waiver before authorizing cost. A Board order and UDC history are stronger proof of discharge than an old screenshot of a future date.

The Iron County release search helps separate a state prison case from an ordinary local booking. That distinction matters if the same person previously appeared in the Iron County jail through arrest, court transport, or a UDC contract placement.

Verify CUCF Release Evidence
A reliable CUCF release account preserves the sequence. Start with the offender number and current UDC location. Add the exact Release Date/Type. Then read the Board order that created, changed, or rescinded the date. Finally, confirm the post-date location or obtain the historical release record. This separates a forecast from an event.
Do not treat a missing CUCF housing label as proof by itself. The person could have moved to USCF, another prison, a contract placement, a community correctional center, or parole. The new UDC Location gives the next lead. If the live profile later disappears because supervision ended, BOPP decisions and the UDC GRAMA response provide the historical path.
For an Iron County case, the Fifth District judgment may establish the sentence and commitment. It does not replace UDC’s later release timestamp or the Board’s parole decision. Use each record for its own event. When another jurisdiction or hold is named, confirm that authority before describing a community release.
Record dates carefully. The Board decision date, scheduled parole date, transport date, USCF processing date, and AP&P supervision start may differ. A clear timeline can report each without merging them. That is especially important for CUCF because most release processing occurs at another state campus.
Save the UDC offender number with every record. Names and birth dates help identify a person, but the state number is the best link among the search detail, Board decision, and records request. If a result changes, the number lets agency staff locate the same correctional case without relying on an old facility name.
County jail sources have only a limited role in a CUCF inquiry. They may document an earlier Iron County booking or transport, but they do not supply the state prison discharge.
